Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What's the difference between domestic assistance and domestic cleaning?

Domestic assistance is a broader service that includes cleaning plus other household tasks like meal preparation, laundry, shopping, and often includes skill-building components. It's typically funded under Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life. Domestic cleaning focuses specifically on house cleaning tasks (vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchens) and is often funded under Capital Supports for SDA residents. Domestic cleaning is generally a direct service provided by professional cleaners, while domestic assistance may involve supported participation with a support worker. Both maintain your home, but serve different purposes and funding categories.

Do I need to provide cleaning products and equipment?

No! We bring all necessary cleaning equipment and products including vacuum cleaners, mops, buckets, cleaning solutions, and supplies. This is included in our service. However, if you have specific preferences for cleaning products (particular brands, eco-friendly options, hypoallergenic products), we're happy to use what you provide or purchase specific products for use in your home. Just let us know your preferences during the initial consultation.

How long does a typical cleaning visit take?

Duration varies based on your home size and cleaning requirements. A small apartment might take 2-3 hours, a medium-sized home 3-4 hours, and larger homes 4-6 hours or more. Deep cleaning or initial cleans typically take longer than regular maintenance cleaning. During your consultation, we'll assess your home and provide a realistic time estimate. We focus on quality over speed, ensuring every area is properly cleaned.

Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

You can choose what works best for you. Some participants prefer to be home, while others are comfortable with cleaners working independently. If you won't be home, we ensure secure key management procedures are in place, provide updates on work completed, and lock up properly when finished. We're flexible to accommodate your preferences and routine.

What if I'm not satisfied with the cleaning?

Your satisfaction is our priority. If you're not happy with any aspect of the cleaning, please let us know immediately. We'll return to address any concerns at no additional charge. We also welcome feedback to help us understand your preferences better and ensure future cleans meet your expectations. Our goal is for you to be completely satisfied with every visit.

Can you clean specific areas or is it always the whole house?

We're completely flexible! We can clean your entire home or focus on specific areas based on your needs and priorities. Common arrangements include weekly full-home cleaning, certain areas weekly with others fortnightly, kitchen and bathrooms weekly with other areas monthly, or focusing on areas you can't clean yourself while you manage others. We customize the service to your needs and NDIS plan budget.

How is domestic cleaning funded under the NDIS?

Domestic cleaning is typically funded under Capital Supports - Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Specialist Disability Accommodation for SDA residents. It may also be funded under Core Supports household tasks for other participants. The funding covers the cost of professional cleaning services. Your support coordinator or NDIS planner can confirm if your plan includes domestic cleaning funding and how much is allocated.

Will I have the same cleaner each time?

We aim for consistency by assigning a regular cleaner to your home whenever possible. This helps because the cleaner learns your home layout, understands your preferences, builds a working relationship with you, and provides consistent results. During leave or sick days, a backup cleaner who is briefed on your preferences will cover. Continuity is important to us.

Can cleaning services include window cleaning and carpet cleaning?

Our standard service includes interior window cleaning (wiping down glass, frames, sills). For exterior window cleaning, high windows, or carpet steam cleaning, we can coordinate specialized services through trusted contractors and ensure the work meets your standards. These deeper cleaning tasks may be scheduled periodically (e.g., quarterly) while regular cleaning happens more frequently.

What happens if something gets damaged during cleaning?

While our cleaners are careful and trained professionals, accidents can occasionally happen. We have comprehensive insurance coverage for accidental damage. If something is broken or damaged, our cleaner will report it immediately, we'll assess the situation and take responsibility, and our insurance will cover the cost of repair or replacement. Your belongings are treated with care and respect at all times.
